Aug. 3, 2010
CARLSBAD, Calif. - K-State Athletics and CBSSports.com College Network - the premier internet services provider for college athletics - are partnering on an enhanced athletics website that will be unveiled Monday afternoon, providing Wildcat fans with improved features and overall customer service, officials announced today.
The revamped site at k-statesports.com will use the latest internet technology to provide fans with a seamless, robust experience that is unique to K-State. CBSSports.com College Network, in cooperation with K-State's athletic internet services and communications staff, has been working the past several months in preparing the site's new look for Monday's launch.
"Our athletics website is a key communications component to reach K-State fans, alumni and friends world-wide," said Athletics Director John Currie. "As a part of our commitment to the best fan experience in the Big 12, we wanted to ensure that our internet platform and these significant upgrades provided K-Staters with the most efficient and user friendly experience as they follow Wildcat athletics."
Among the new and updated features at k-statesports.com include:
One of the key features of the new site is free live audio streaming of all K-State sporting events. Wildcat fans can now follow every play, pitch and serve online, while also having free access to coaches shows and archived game audio.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase official K-State merchandise through Team Fan Shop, the largest online retailer of Nike and collegiate products, game action photos through Replay Photos and participate in an increased number of live online auctions featuring unique and specialty K-State items and memorabilia.
Both premium and free video content will be available through K-State All-Access, which will replace the current Powercat Passport option. CBSSports.com College Network is providing free viewing of its new video player to all fans until August 9 as content from each of the company's partnering institutions may be accessed for free during this viewing period. More information about how to subscribe to K-State All-Access will be announced soon.
A redesign of the ticket homepage will make navigation and the process of gathering information and purchasing tickets much easier at k-statesports.com/tickets. Updated maps, parking information, gameday policies can now be found in one central location.
Also, fans can receive a daily dose of Wildcat news and stories through the free K-State Sports Extra email and website feature. After a year of providing K-State fans updates through the K-State Official Sports Report, a similar service will begin Thursday with Mark Janssen authoring features and stories about K-State Athletics each day. These stories will be sent each day by email directly to fans and also posted online. Those who received the Official Sports Report via email will automatically be included in the K-State Sports Extra distribution list, while others may sign up by clicking the option on the Sports Extra landing page
With the addition of Kansas State to its list of partners, the CBSSports.com College Network now includes more than 70 percent of FBS institutions and nine Big 12 schools, a dominant position entering the 2010 college football season.
